Why are men still being allowed to sexually assault women and get away with it? It's extremely hard to have faith in the judicial system when this continues to happen over and over. My hope is that powerful men who are sexual predators have a special place reserved for them in hell. Not interviewing Ford or Kavanaugh during the FBI investigation? Disgraceful. Not surprising given Trump was involved.
4500 tips and not one was investigated. And now they are set to confirm an entire cabinet full of sexual predators. For all of the awareness that the Me Too movement created, little has changed. Powerful men are never held accountable. Women are dismissed as liars.
The Whitehouse report was released on October 8th, and it appears several mainstream outlets covered the release at that time, including the Washington Post, CNN, Newsweek, MSN, USA Today, etc. A small story appeared in Fox News a few days later discrediting Whitehouse's report. Of course, the fact that so few of us heard about it indicates it wasn't widely covered and didn't catch fire.
Confirming Brett Kavanaugh, electing Trump as President, nominating Matt Gaetz as attorney general….these are the reasons why women don’t come forward when they are SA.
The fact that they believed him over a woman who upended her entire life to come forward is so disappointing. This is the reason many women don't report sexual assault and rape. It is sad that we have two men sitting on the Supreme Court for life who were both accused of inappropriate behavior towards women. Clearly that will affect their viewpoints on women's rights. And this country just elected a man for the second time who was found guilty of sexual assault and has many women who have come forward accusing him. Women need to be heard or men with power will continue to dismiss their accusers and get away with it.
And to think this was done when Trump was a veritable rookie in the office. Now it's even worse with nothing but sycophants surrounding him. Even as a conservative back then I thought Kavanaugh was scum. Now that the GOP left me, he seems even worse.
Searching for ways to keep up an effective fight so the next 4 years are less of a disaster.
When you elect a known sexual predator as President it shouldn't surprise anyone that he would nominate and support other sexual predators, birds of a feather and all that. Frankly anyone that voted for him even if it was because they like his "policies" or think he's going to make eggs cheaper has no right to complain and are ultimately okay with excusing this terrible behavior.
This part is absolutely chilling. Why so long until this came out???
"In October 2024, Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, released a report from a years-long investigation about the FBI’s supplemental background research into Brett Kavanaugh. The report claims Trump’s administration limited the FBI’s investigation into Kavanaugh, and that the FBI did not have the freedom to conduct a “thorough, complete investigation.” The report also claims the tip line the FBI set up was fake, and though it received 4,500 calls, no tips were investigated. "
I am so tired of the sexual predators and grift and getting away with it all. I believed Anita Hill and I believed Dr Ford.
I can't imagine the betrayal every sexual abuse survivor in this country must feel. To see their fellow countrymen and women turn a blind eye to sexual abuse and praise the incoming offenders, it must be earth shattering. I hope anyone seeing this who has been abused know there are so many people in your corner and we are loudly and proudly saying these men have no place in leadership!
Thank you Sharon, once again, for factual information. Although this article angered me all over again ( recalling watching the proceedings, and the treatment of Ford and the childish out of control Kavanaugh ), it cemented the never ending disgrace and actions of those in power. The fact that POLITICS came into play at his one confirmation, is enlightening. Frustrating. But enlightening. Take care, folks. Within our own selves, Truth and Knowledge is still very powerful.
I believed Anita Hill and Christine Blasey Ford. We have that least 2 known abusers on the supreme court and one coming to the White House. Women-we have to do better at believing each other and standing up for each other. Suffragettes worked so hard to get us the right to vote so we could prevent these kind of people in power.
Thank you for a well written narrative about how he got to where he's holding court now. The boys-men club "yes means no" rule is so much more the norm. I remember Star and Clinton how they scapegoated the victim. A story repeated over and over. I believe Anita Hill. I believe Christine Ford..
I recall (at the time) feeling a little sorry for Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing. WHAT WAS I THINKING??? Sharon, I have learned so much since following you (and I thought I had it all together) and can only thank you for making me read and study and question and dig for the truth.
My mother had a saying, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” How very true!
I think my blood pressure shot up to unhealthy levels after reading this. The blatant (and successful) attempts to dismiss the allegations against him are right from Trump's playbook. (Also, I couldn't help studying the family picture. I am no psychologist, but the body language and expressions of Kavanaugh's wife and daughters caught my attention. They don't strike me as a happy group.)
His partisan screed at his confirmation hearing was disqualifying all by itself. This man does not have the temperament to serve on the Supreme Court. But here we are.
Kavanaugh disgusts me. WE DO NOT FORGET OUR RAPISTS. I imagine if I had taken mine to court, he would have had that same ugly, rage-filled face and bullying, childish temper tantrum. Another man of spoiled privilege getting his way. Another a****** realizing that past actions can affect his future life, if caught. I believe Christine Blasey Ford 100 percent. There wasn't any benefit to her for calling him out, while he most likely lied about “Not a scintilla. 100 percent certain, Senator.” The thing is, memories are branded onto those who suffer, while the perpetrators go on their merry way and don't give it a second thought. This is why we need more women all throughout the legal system, including on the high courts and three arms of government. Representation matters!!!!!

Yes, this is a preview of the incoming administration’s control of the FBI.
4500 tips and not one was investigated. And now they are set to confirm an entire cabinet full of sexual predators. For all of the awareness that the Me Too movement created, little has changed. Powerful men are never held accountable. Women are dismissed as liars.
Yes. The report was released LAST MONTH (!?!) that T ordered the FBI to FAKE their investigation!?! Sharon, was that reported anywhere in “the news”?

Thank you. Apparently, we are the “fire-starters.” We understand the assignment. Let’s go!
that is my question too!
I believe Christine Blasey Ford.

Yes. And these are reasons why we must smash this malignant patriarchy.
We need more women to stop carrying water for the patriarchy to do that. How do we make that happen?
Call them out? Maybe some of them don’t realize what they’re doing?

The Irony is strong with this one.
K says, “I believe that it is vital that the President be able to focus on his never-ending tasks with as few distractions as possible.”
DISTRACTIONS!?!
How does that square with “no one is above the law”?
