I think this is evidence that smart people can see some benefits can come from Republican thought and shows that compromise can be beneficial as it gets us away from the Us vs Them mentality that only tends to divide us and not unite us.
Thank you for the excellent article. I’m curious why proponents of the bill still refer to it as “Obamacare” instead of just the ACA. It seems to me that just saying Obamacare is instantly polarizing and continues to fuel part of the general public’s distrust of it, but it’s used in nearly every article about the ACA.
Not that I want to hide President Obama’s involvement, but 15 years later is it doing more harm than good?
Well that's exactly the point though. In the 2024 election, they specifically called it Obama care vs ACA bc they'd already demonized him in several ways. When you ask people if they like Obama care, they hate it, but ACA is great! Imagine how far we might be if Romney had just publicly endorsed his own idea and it became a bipartisan effort.
I would say that the GOP prefers to call it Obamacare as they have conditioned others to see it as bad and not Republican made. It has become a trigger word to foment dissent and continued divide between the two parties.
And now we have TrumpRX.gov, which I think is Trumps way of countering Obamacare with his own health care tag line. I recall President Obama saying when people were using Obamacare as a pejorative, "I don't take it as a negative because I do care."
A well written article on the good and bad of Obamacare . I'm glad that we still have it as it will help so many Americans who need it and can afford it as written . Could it be better? Probably, with a tweak here and there to make it more affordable in order to include even more Americans who still need coverage , so let's improve it, if we can't have single payer coverage .
This was very interesting. I had no idea Obama used framework from Republican ideas
That's the problem. The GOP doesn't want their base to know it was their idea a Democrat implemented.

A perfect example of how emotional and childish our political landscape is.

Good point, but instead the Dems pulled a trickeration and hid the fact that Obamacare includes conservative thought . Politics as usual, right?

It's so sad that both sides are more worried about "one uping" each other than actually helping the people that elected them.
I hear you and agree.
