Thanks for letting me know! Some accounts I follow still have the audio feature for written articles, so I thought it was an author option. I often listen while driving and love that feature. 😃
It’s driving me crazy because I listen to my subscriptions too — it’s not affecting every account but it’s still frustrating. I think it’s been over 2 weeks for me
It seems like now is not the first time government leaders have tried to trample the Constitution for their own political gain. It's just the first time the other branches--the "checks and balances"--have sat back and allowed it to happen.
This piece really clarifies how fragile press access actually is, and how easily we mistake it for something guaranteed rather than something fought for. The inclusion of Ellsberg’s middle school aged children made me think of my own and sent me down a rabbit hole, and I was struck by his work on the Ellsberg Paradox, that examined our deep discomfort with ambiguity and how we tend to reach for the comfort of the known, even when that certainty is flawed or incomplete. It made me think about how authority often prefers dissent it can control over questions it can’t answer. Honestly, that pattern starts long before government or media. It begins the first time a teacher or coach tells us as kids there’s such a thing as “bad” questions and we stop asking them. Maybe moral courage doesn’t begin with forceful pushback at all, but with teaching our kids and teenagers how to ask deeper questions and creating boundaries where they can politely, but firmly, push back when they’re told to stop. Thanks again for writing this ☺️
Well written and cogent to the current happenings in DC today. It is ,simply put, just more Christian Nationalist news control tactics that do nothing but obscure the truth to the detriment of we , the electors, of who we want as our representatives in national government today and every year to come. We must stand by our observance of the principles outlined in our founding documents that have been our guide for these past 250 years or we will only end up being like the countries of the world who seem content to be governed by despots and tyrants. Need I tell you who they are ? I think you already know that answer.
Let's be strong in our resolve to make a more perfect union in our country by insisting on adherence to the laws that are existing that insure civil rights for all people regardless of race ,color or creed and guarantee the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness always in our country. The current regime in DC is a scourge on our democracy and must be stopped or we will become more like the corrupt despotic countries in the world that keep their citizens continually in the dark and subjected to repression and suffocating rule.
Thank you for this.
It’s also worth noting the consolidation of media under billionaires is killing our free press.
Is it possible to turn on the audio feature for this post? Thank you!
Substack has a bug with audio processing right now

Deep dive or course on the subject of the Vietnam Era would be awesome!!
Excellent summary. I’m sharing with my adult, but weren’t born yet kids
Thank you for this article. Makes my blood run cold, and I'm not even an american.
Thank you for the reminder. I lived through those years, but it is easy to forget.
