You are doing hard work and there are people who truly want to rip the joy, contentment, hope, and anything good out of your hands. You continue to choose good and to be a voice of encouragement for us to do the same and I am thankful for that ❤️

When someone tries to wear me down and is less than positive about what I'm trying to accomplish, squash dreams, etc and has something to say about it, I am always reminded of a quote from Elyse Myers..."I don't receive that". Keeps me motivated to continue my work and moving forward.

This is my Elyse Myers appreciation post. She is wise beyond her years and such a light of authenticity. Love her.

AMAZING. It's often the opposite in practice. We accept all the discouragement and doubt, and don't accept the support, encouragement, and compliments. How powerful to flip that on it's head by saying "I don't receive that" to the discouragement AND "I receive that" to all the encouragement. ❤️

I refuse to listen to the constant lies presented by Trump. That's all he does is lie, so what is the point of listening? If you like to watch the news do so with the remote in your hand and thumb on the mute button. Then when you see his stupid face on the TV hit the button and divert your gaze. I squint so I can just see the bottom of the screen in order to know then to turn the sound back on. I haven't missed anything, except that horrible voice and the lies!

I was recently diagnosed with major depression. I was in a seriously bad place. My daughter, working on her masters in psychology, encouraged me to disconnect from social media and the overwhelming amount of news floating around.

I am now super selective about who I follow for news and what I read and take in each day.

This post spoke right to my nurse aid heart!! ❤️ caring for elderly with dementia can wear one down and breaks ones heart. Being a Governerd I learned to do what I can, focus on what I can give. Flipping the script to “I can do/give _____,” vs “this is too big” makes those small triumphs big celebrations. One resident can’t remember why she loves when I’m there but knows she feels happy about how I make her feel (all because I hug, encourage independence where it’s doable, smile and remind her of what she can still do and don’t mention what she can no longer do).

This post reminded me to focus on the hope and joy and that my work is important.

WOW, that is such powerful reframing ‼️ "I can do/give ______" vs "this is too big"

I am writing this one down. Thank you for sharing this gem with us 💎

All credit goes to Sharon!! So many times Governerds have raised sooo much money. She reminds us some can give hundred to the cause, some only 50 cents, but combined when everyone does what they are able, together we change the world for others.

A couple of quotes come to mind after reading this: “hurt people hurt people,” and “comparison is the thief of Joy” - It seems that people lash out or try to hurt others when they themselves are hurting or if they feel inconsequential, invisible, a failure. We all need to find something that brings us Joy and unapologetically pursue it. It doesn’t have to be a huge, fame producing venture - it can be little things that nevertheless improve the lives of others.. teacher, healthcare providers, volunteers, etc all come to mind. Also, making the effort to just be kind to others - in real life and on social media. Thanks again, Sharon, for all you do. You get us to think and that’s what a good teacher does!

Thanks Sharon! As a recently retired public school teacher--I felt a pang in my stomach when I read the 'headline.' Obviously, that was your intent. I'm glad that you did not embed a link to the article. I, most definitely would have clicked and read. And...it would not have been a 'fun' read. Please keep up your "good work," and don't hesitate to let us know when you need a pick-me-up. We've got your back.

This is such a good reminder and a recognition of whatever-each-person's important work is. Mine is electrical engineering for buildings. I still LOVE what I do but only when I'm working for people who treat me like a whole human. So I have crafted my career to protect that environment for myself- sometimes choosing to leave for other opportunities but continuing to do the work. Mine is also mothering 3 daughters and supporting my engineer husband to also be a firefighter/EMT in our community. But there is a special kind of joy for me in this career I studied for and have built along with my home-life journey. It is very meaningful to me. And I bring a different energy and perspective to it than some of my colleagues in the industry, and I truly believe the public is going to be better for my involvement over the span of my career. I may be just one person, but I know that my design choices can affect other people through their thoughtfulness. So I make those opportunities my mission - making every lactation room I come across on a project that much more thoughtfully designed. Sometimes even asking "will there be a lactation room in this building, so i can look for it to coordinate its electrical needs?" and that prompts them to go "oh yeah we should probably add one of those..."

Sharing those examples to help others think of thise intrinsically meaningful things that are part of their own work.

Here's to encouraging all of you in here to keep doing your important work. You may be just 1 person, but your work makes a collective impact. Keep it up. ❤️

Powerful uplifting reminder, Sharon. And it can begin with even the littlest grab of joy. Nip it immediately. Otherwise, they collect like weeds, strangling the individual roots of Hope, until one day we wake, and can’t breathe. As the comment of Lora said… “I don’t receive this”. Brilliant.

About all the gossip and bad press she received, Jackie Kennedy said, “the river of sludge will go on and on - it’s not about me”. Rise above all the noise and stay in your high vibrational frequency. The naysayers stay in their sludge lane.
