My Recommendations This Week
Catch up on The Preamble and see what I'm reading and listening to!
I get it, you’re busy. (Because, same!) Let me catch you up on what you missed this week, and drop you some new recommendations to enjoy!
Catching up on The Preamble…
How to Disagree Better
I recently had a chance to sit down with the governor of the great state of Utah, Spencer Cox.
As the Chair of the National Governors Association, he launched an initiative called Disagree Better. He hopes it will bring Democrats and Republicans together. Listen to this if you want to hear his perspective on how to help Americans bridge the divide.
Who is John Roberts?
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts went into law believing that judges should be like umpires. They should just apply the rules, not make them. That seems to have changed in recent years. When did Roberts stop putting the law above his personal politics?
All the Bad Book Titles I Didn't Pick
Naming a book is not easy, y’all, and let me tell you, we had some bad ideas before landing on The Small and the Mighty. I let you in on some behind-the-scenes conversations I had with my agent and my editor.
My Thoughts on the Harris/Trump Debate
I really enjoyed watching the debate live with you all and being able to hear your real-time reactions. After it was over, I shared my feelings on how both candidates did, shared whether I thought the moderators were biased, and looked at how the media on the right and left covered the debate.

I answered questions about Florida book bans in last week’s Fact or Fiction article. Now, a school district in northeast Florida must put back in libraries three dozen books after parents and teachers sued.

What I am watching …
OK, maybe I am not watching it, because who enjoys watching videos of themselves, but I would love for you to check out my interview with Mosheh Oinounou here.
I was also a guest on the podcast Those Who Can’t Do with Andrea Forcum.

What I’m looking forward to…
The thing that I have been working so hard on for three years is coming out in nine days, and I cannot explain to you what that means to me. I have dreamed about writing a book since I was a child, and I just want to say thanks for being here for this moment.
Pre-ordering really does make a huge difference for writers), and that’s why I created a wonderful set of free bonuses you can sign up for. Does a loved one have a birthday coming up? Planning ahead for the holidays? Have a long flight sometime before the year’s end? Books bring you joy?
Buy The Small and the Mighty.
It’s less than $25 right now, and would make a great gift for those holiday parties you’re always invited to where you’re supposed to bring a present that anyone could enjoy.
And I would love to see you live on my book tour, starting soon! You can snag tickets here:
Austin (there are only a few tickets left!)
This community is the best. Thanks for being here.
Loved your podcast with Mosheh! And a glimpse into your book. My sister and I are super excited to see you in DC!
