Ugh! The politically charged posts on social media regarding Helene made me so mad this week! People have died and lost their homes and businesses. So many have stepped up to help. Let’s focus on that and getting the work done. I’m in the area but not impacted.

FYI, I live in NC and have family who remain without power and water in WNC. The stories regarding federal help are true. The majority of rescues, volunteers, supplies and air assistance has been entirely from fellow citizens and grassroots organizations coming together to save our fellow people!! The disaster is apocalyptic!! The terrain of the mountain regions has made rescue efforts and supply distribution very difficult and in some instances impossible. It feels to many locals the federal government simply doesn’t care. While this may not be 100% the case, perception is reality right now. And the perception is not good. With all that said, our people are resilient and determined to keep moving forward! Please don’t make this political, there is no red or blue - only red, white & blue here! We are CarolinaStrong and AmericaStrong!!
