This. I say this as a gun owner and hunter. Not everyone should have access to a gun, and no civilian should have access to every gun.

This. This is exactly it. Thank you for being a responsible gun owner Rachel.

Hmmmm who used to have an A rating from the NRA but evolved based on the facts and now has an F rating all while safely owning hunting guns….that person sounds like they may be uniquely qualified to lead some change.

I actually love that he changed his mind and it is a very public act. I have pointed that out to some Republican friends (who are on the fence about Kamala). People say, "Look at what she's said in the past." (some of which is true and some of which is something they have heard but is not true) ... Well, I know I've said or thought things in the past that I have changed my mind about. I was a very hardcore Republican in the past. And I still share some of those conservative values. I also have learned some things and changed my mind about some other things. We learn and we grow.

And it's cool that Gov Walz changed his. People can grow. We need to realize that we really need to learn more about Kamala _now_. Just because some things she says now may not be the exact same as what she said in 2019 or sometime in the past doesn't mean that she is lying. It may simply mean that she has grown and changed. And. We know that our other option has also grown, but not in the way I want my leader to grow. Yay for someone who changed their mind about guns and ways they can be more safe, in this case.

I think there is a distinct difference between understand an issue on a different level and evolving your police/belief versus pandering to a base so you can be in power to feed your ego and pocketbook. I hope others are able to identify the difference too.

AMEN. Sharon, thank you so much for these words. As a Georgian, I picked up my child from school today and cried as I hugged him. I looked in the eyes of the teachers who have to go back to work tomorrow and not let the little kids see their anxiety and heartbreak they are suffering. I am mad. I called my senators and representative and demanded they do something. Anything. We cannot keep living like this. And we do not need to. Children and teachers should always be above guns.

Thank you Sharon. I am heartsick for all those affected by this preventable act in Georgia. Also for those who have been touched in the past by gun violence. The pain they must feel knowing their loved ones deaths didn’t change the way our country worships guns. We are way past enough.

Pro-life has been all about anti abortion while firearm mortality is the number one reason for child deaths in the USA. Does this even make sense? I am sick and tired of thoughts and prayers and empty empathy to make us all feel better about the constant tragedy. It seems the USA has less interest in children living to adulthood. Protect the unborn, but once they are a breathing human, too bad because our guns are top priority.

An ABSOLUTE lie!!! Well over 500,000 children are killed every year in the uterus! It is the most unsafe place in this nation for children. Nowhere near that many are killed by guns each year (purposely or accidentally). Get your facts straight before rattling them off here.

Cheering for you so loudly from my Georgia living room that I hope you hear it in MN!

We as a nation lost our soul the day we decided we’d let first graders die in their classrooms at the hand of someone with a gun. It’s time for us to get our soul back.

I hear you in Virginia!

Do not let perfect be the enemy of good!!! Yes!!! What we’re doing now clearly isn’t working. How about we try something else? Just try. See what happens. Because we have to do something.

You really nailed it on the head. I am crying as I write this. I just want to scream and scream at those in power who will do nothing to help protect the children.

Time for all mothers to march on Washington!

Need a march!! For kids, teachers, staff.. and state ones!! SC has open carry, no permit needed…not ak15 but.. agree that not everyone should have access to a gun & no civilian needs access to every gun.

THIS. State protests. Let’s show up at our state capitols en masse and show them we’re not playing with kids’ lives anymore.

Mothers, grandmothers, students and so many more did just this in TN after the Covenant School shooting which left 6 people dead last May in Nashville. They were called ‘insurrectionists’ by the republican legislators - they were removed from the observation chambers for holding small signs asking for reform and safe storage laws- they filled the corridor with TN State Troopers who carried respectful protestors away. I certainly don’t think we should stop showing up…. But we need to vote these people out of office as well.

Would gladly sacrifice a vacation day to do this!

This should be an issue which unites all Americans.

We have failed our children. We can be prayer in action and stop this madness, common sense gun laws now!

Prayer in action! Yes! Love this!

This! My church calls it “praying with your feet” ❤️

Thank you, Sharon. As a public school employee, the news of yet another school shooting both saddens & angers me. People/politicians seem to want to try anything other than sensible gun safely regulations. It's maddening! Tomorrow I'll be writing my representatives to voice my opinion for more stringent laws... But I'm in Florida so it feels like they don't care.

Well said! I consider guns as one of, if not the top, problem in America today. I’m not against all gun ownership but we need to have common sense gun laws. Unfortunately our politicians take too much money from gun lobbyists! There is no reason for citizens to have AR 15s and high magazine guns and not everyone should be entitled to own one.

Guns are the #1 killer of American children. That’s a fact! And that makes it the #1 problem in America.

Agree. This should not even be a political issue.

That’s what I said when I spoke in front of my city council with Moms Demand Action. I said, “this is not a political issue. This is a Public Safety issue.”

This is everything. Thank you for putting into words what so many of us are thinking in the wake of yet another terrifying tragedy. ❤️

It’s time… it’s time for our students to strike. We need to shut down our schools until the laws are changed. Enough of the small steps… the small steps did nothing for today’s victims. After Parkland I joined in with several “against guns” groups and organizations… now is the time for all of us to insist on shutting it all down!

The law already prohibits guns on school property. It already prohibits killing others. Law abiding citizens are NOT the problem! What law can you pass and enforce that is going to guarantee that nobody can get to our children and shoot them?! A lack of respect and value for life is where the problem lies. People who value human life will not take it - by gun, by club, by hand, or any other method. Evil exists in this world and will persist regardless the laws you pass and the guns you grab!!!

What is wrong with us that we let this happen again and again! Heartsick and so pissed off.
