It’s always bothered me that DC had no representation but I didn’t realize the history behind it. Now I feel more than bothered. I also had no idea that more people lived there than some states. The more I learn about history, the more I realize that what’s happening now is nothing particularly new, unfortunately. When have we ever lived up to “liberty and justice for all”? We have a long way to go, yes we’ve come a ways, but man, we have a lot of work to do.

Thank you for the history and explanation of DC. It should be a state.

They deserve all the same representation the rest of us get. This is once again a ridiculous power play by Republicans to hold on to any control they can have over people. There is a reason that DC votes 90% democrat. They, more than anyone, see up close and personal exactly what these congresspeople are like. If they don't want to give them a voice and statehood, it just proves that their policies, ideas, and character are horrible. They are so scared of the residents that they continue to put a boot on their necks. It's disgusting.
