I have a question about this - I am a paid (monthly) subscriber here on substack, do I need to subscribe to something else? Thank you for all you do! 😊

Your post says “as a paid subscriber (which I know I am), get 20% off…” So, it sounds like we have to pay more for the new preamble? Is that called a “upgrade”? When I click into that link, it just shows me the $80 per year that will renew automatically on June 2026. Is that the price of the new preamble? Or do I need to “upgrade” or “change“ the payment details? Please advise. I don’t want to miss anything! The new one sounds like a deep dive every week, instead of something to look at & try to read every day – that fits better with my schedule. Thanks!

No need to upgrade or change! All of our paid subscribers: monthly, annual, and Founding Members (new and old) get to contribute to our new weekly edition of The Preamble.

Thanks, Sharon. So we will disregard that instruction for Paid Subscribers to go do something & get 20% off. I will say I am glad I was not the only one needing clarification! 😉

The only other thing is if say you're month to month subscriber now, you could use that 20% off and become an annual subscriber and save money (if you're able!) which is a good deal.

I think I finally understand the tech people who get really excited about new Apple product drops. This is my overhauled iPhone anticipated release moment. I feel like we should throw a party. 🎉 🎈🦄

From my understanding, it is not a new subscription. She is just offering 20% to anyone who joins as a new paid subscriber before Thursday.

Friends, you do NOT need to do anything if you are already a subscriber & follower of the Preamble. Sharon & team are making the changes on the back end.

Your current subscription status will remain as is, no change on your end is necessary.

Sharon is stating that if you are NOT a current subscriber; you would like to make a “change” to your subscription (ie monthly to annual); let someone you know who might be interested in; or if you wanted to gift a subscription- she is offering a 20% discount on an annual subscription right now for this limited time for the relaunch/new format of the Preamble. Again, subscribers do not need to do anything further otherwise….

On the question of immigration, I am for it and would like to see more equity and fairness in the current process which I find to be inappropriate and draconian . We are a nation of immigrants who appear to want to make our country a "gated community" like that of a country club crowd right now and that is not what I perceive that we should be . Granted , there should be some controls in place to manage the flow of those entering to forestall any overage that would prove to be unhelpful. Obviously , what would be even better is that other countries become better for their citizens to where the thought of coming to America is moot and unnecessary, but we all know that is not the reality of our world situation right now. The globalization process of the recent years has been an attempt to make the world a better place and I applaud those whomhave tried to see it come to fruition and I advocate for continuing the process.

There is a link above to write letters to the editor in a Google doc. Maybe you did this and also shared your thoughts with us. Idk. I don't want you to miss the opportunity to write it to Sharon and her staff.

I saw that and chose to pass because it seemed too constrictive in that my letter would be moderated to what I feared would be infringing on my right to speak freely in my own words without any measure of editing from your end. At least with the blog I can speak my piece freely and I will be able to see what others think about what I have to say which will be more like a conversation than writing to an editor.

Same question as others! Unsure of where this new publication will live, but assuming it’ll be here still since we are all here?

I’m for your general cause however your persistence of late is becoming annoying.

She clarified above that this is not about another subscription. She doesn't take money from anyone but her readers and she deserves to be paid for her labor. Everyone on here who is using this platform as part of their income asks people to subscribe.
