Y’all, I’m sitting here writing this with tears streaming down face. The Small and the Mighty is #1 on the New York Times Best sellers list.
September of an election year is the Olympics of publishing, and I feel like I’ve just won a gold medal. True story: four years ago when I started Sharon Says So, I told my followers, who thronged in by the day, that I felt like I was a competitor in the surprise Olympics. Who knew that just a few years later, I’d be writing to you from an airport, heading to a stop on my book tour.
This is only possible because of you. I will never be over it. And I am so grateful. The fact that his book is perched atop the loftiest of vantage points is a testament to the good in all of you — those who have cheered me on from the beginning, and have consistently supported me in every new venture.
Last week, the day after my book released, I held my first book tour event, at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. The legendary filmmaker Ken Burns interviewed me, and I wanted to share some of our conversation.
