Hi Friends,
With 2026 off to an overwhelming start, we here at The Preamble wanted to create a space for folks to connect and decompress. We know how important community is right now, and there’s something refreshing about gathering with like-minded folks — especially engaged, curious, and deeply informed ones like you! — just to chat amidst everything that’s going on.
Down in the comments, share what you’re reading and watching this week that’s helping you make sense of the moment, what you’re doing to stay grounded — or just talk about whatever’s on your mind.
This community is for paid subscribers, and we’d love to have you join us! The goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, which means speaking to and treating each other with respect in the comments.
Thanks for being part of our community!

I have befriended a Venezuelan single mom who works at a local restaurant. She’s here legally, but scared all the time about her status being changed and being separated from her child. I have given her all our contact info and she has shared it with coworkers and family in Venezuela in case she is wrongfully detained so that we can try to help or make sure her daughter is ok. It’s small but it makes us both feel a little better. We are getting to know her daughter too, so we could be available if the worst happens. She’s becoming like a niece and we value her friendship.
Videos of Minnesotans standing up have been one of the most uplifting things this week.
