This is so frustrating, she’s just politicking. This is what’s wrong with politics and the Democratic Party in particular. Do something NOW.

I appreciate having someone on the side of positive change. However, this feels like a campaign speech…

We can do better. We can do more. We HAVE TO DO BETTER!

I don’t hear anything about working out common sense solutions to address immigration.

What do you suggest?

I appreciate the reminder that it's still useful to call and remind my senators they are abdicating the Constitution (Missouri). It can feel very much like I have no voice where I live.

And yet, If you and your neighbors make enough noise to your Republican electeds, it feels like you will have more impact than me since I'm already represented by Democrats! Keep calling!! Sending encouragement from WA!

I appreciate Rep Craig’s comments, but I agree with the comments here. We can’t just wait to elect more Democrats, we need to remove Trump and his cronies from power NOW. He is destroying our country. It’s not three steps forward and two steps back - it’s dangerous retaliation, it’s a power play for total control, it’s horrific violation of human rights - and we can’t put that on a shelf until November.

I wonder, where is Ivonka Trump in all this? She was once her father’s advisor. Is she supporting his (Project 25’s) agenda? Or is she as devastated as we are? As a mother, could she “advise” her very ill father to remove himself? If not, her children will be living in a third world country soon …

It’s frustrating not to have direct access to our legislators - I’ve sent many comments via email, only to get back a form letter. It honestly isn’t real reassuring.

I appreciate what you do and thank you for using our voice on your platform. I continue to hope we’ll turn a corner soon.

Unfortunately her family won't suffer through this, though. Just like wealthy families dont have to worry about reproductive rights bc *they* will always have safe access to abortion. Thanks in part to the windfall from the Saudis, the Kushner family doesn't need to worry about a thing. They can buy an island and disappear.

There has to be a way for the minority in the House to make a difference by vigorously working with/on the majority party. If Congress itself believes it can only do anything with a majority, what good are the people in the minority?

Emily In Your Phone (also on substack) has some ideas on things the minority party can try and get out of these discussions this week. As well as other things we can do. https://emilyinyourphone.substack.com/p/explainer-ice-funding-battle

Bottom line:

Keep talking to your Reps in Congress about what is happening in our country right now, write letters to the editor in your local papers , support your candidates running for office in you state , put a sign out in your yard as to who you are voting for or put one on your apartment door , encourage folks to vote for the party that will make life better for everyone and talk up fair taxation that involves the rich paying their fair share.

Anything else that you can think of that will foment change for the better and make for a more perfect union in our country , then, please do so, and share with all of us what that may be so we can do the same ourselves.

Rep. Craig, respectfully, this isn’t “going” to happen in other places, people are having their doors “battering rammed” in OKC. They (DHS) are literally fighting with the city right now to put in a new detention center less than a mile from a school in a predominantly Latino neighborhood. People are already carrying their passports with them everywhere and “hoping” for the best. Congress is woefully mistaken and misinformed if they think this is only happening in Minneapolis. I firmly stand with the people of Minneapolis who are enduring things they absolutely shouldn’t. And I also believe Congress needs to take a good look in the mirror and ask themselves why they are tolerating the harm of their constituents?

This was frustrating. She basically shrugged her shoulders and pointed her finger at the senate. Super disappointing and feels like democrats are looking around hoping someone else will figure it out and scape goat. From stories Sharon has shared about the craziness that used to happen on the house floor, they’re choosing not to do more.

I appreciate Sharon pressing her, in a very respectful but direct manner, that we are frustrated and expect our representatives to do everything they can. The overall vibe from the House is that the working culture is so toxic that they have settled to just posting on social media, going on a few news programs and otherwise waving their arms in the air until the midterm elections. I don't live in MN so I am not fully aware of what the state's Congress members are doing day-to-day but if this was going on in MA, where I live, I would expect the people we elected into office to roll up their sleeves and fight like hell alongside the people they represent. I feel she started to become defensive when asked what more she could do, which is too bad, because it was a great opportunity for her to reach wide-range audience that cares deeply about our country is very focused on finding solutions and putting them into action.

Really disappointed with Rep Craig on this one. She is addressing engaged citizens - we don’t need a campaign speech. Thank you for pushing her in the right direction Sharon - but sad she couldn’t take the opportunity you gave her to give us real action steps.

I've heard people lean into the "Rs are afraid for the security of their family," but has there been actual threats other than being primaried? Because generally Dems aren't being threatened and are theoretically the opposition, so that doesn't really seem to compute?

Thanks for sharing exactly how I feel. We can’t wait thru another year of this!
