I'm really enjoying these Daily Briefs. This is a good addition to the Preamble.

How do we know if the job’s report is accurate? This administration is so corrupt, how can anything be trusted? I’m curious if the job numbers came from this administration or an independent organization.

I was wondering this too. Is this information accurate? Of course I want to believe it, but I don’t trust this administration.

I don’t trust government numbers anymore……

Pam Bondi is the worst. That is all.

Thank you for doing these Daily Briefs! It is really helpful.

Pam Bondi is in over her head in this job. She also has no class as evidenced by the shallow insults she lobs at Congressional questioners rather than answering their questions.

Pam W's avatar

Worse than that is her lack of integrity.

I am really liking the format. Also appreciate that the whole thing is readable in the email and I don’t have to click into something else to read it

These Daily Briefs are exactly what we have been hoping for. Thank you! The grief and stress is starting to affect our health and we’ve been trying to figure out a way to cut down on our daily news intake.

Hi Sharon. Thanks for drawing attention to the tragedy north of the border. The entire nation is in mourning. As pointed out in your report this is highly unusual for Canada which makes it all the more shocking when it does happen.

Regarding the RCMP's reference to the shooter's (shooter... such a nice euphemism for a mass murderer... but I digress) change of gender preference, I found it a bit odd too. However, on further reflection, there are a couple of possible reasons they may have had for pointing this out.

It's possible that the shooter has never legally changed her name, so technically, according to official documents she would show up as male and with a different name in the public record than the name that she now goes by. Since the press will now be madly digging for clues, they may have simply been trying to providing clarity instead of having to inevitably answer questions about it at future press conferences.

Also to clarify, the RCMP stated they were not aware of any history of bullying though it is too soon to be certain about that. This was mentioned in relation to the shooter's change of preferred gender identity. Later in the statement it was also noted that the RCMP had attended the shooter's home quite a few times over the last few years to address mental health issues and weapons issues.

All of these points are things the press will dig up anyway in the next few days and questions will be raised. And, at the end of the day, we do some things a little differently up here.

Thanks again for including this in your daily report. I'm quite confident that I'm not the only Canadian in your group who appreciates it.

Thank you for sharing this. When I first heard that the shooter was a woman, my first honest reaction was that I hoped she wasn’t transgender because here in the US, that becomes yet another way to vilify the trans community. Your analysis of why this information was shared helps explain to me. (I’m a mom to two young adult kids with partners, all are LGBTQ+ and some are trans.)
