This is the most impactful thing I have read this week. As someone who works in a helping profession, I'm used to being the helper and can find it hard to ask for help. This has given me something to think about!

I've never heard of the Ben Franklin effect. How fascinating, and useful! Great article.

Wow, this was really thought provoking! And it made me think of how my neighbor, who stopped talking to us after we put out a sign supporting a political candidate that he did not like, has suddenly changed his tune after I asked him for his opinion about a local city council issue that he had more personal experience with than I did.

wonderful article! It not only helps us connect with those around us to build relationships, but also allows us to become empowered by the interaction. The one part i found the most interesting, which was omitted from this summary, is that, the researcher "purposely act[ed] like a 'rather distasteful individual.'" After all, doing a favor for someone who asks nicely is one thing, but the fact that they did it when he was intentionally being rude brings it to a whole new level!
