I'm so curious what schools are doing about this in other countries (particularly in countries that consistently score higher in academics than the US). As a HS teacher, I'm educating myself and learning to use it responsibly while simultaneously trying to teach my students how to do the same...but it's still tough because there will always be students who aren't mature enough to see that using anything or anyone to do the learning work for them only hinders them in the end.
I believe that AI can be used for good but that will take serious regulation to do so ,as with everything in life there are those who will use it for the wrong reasons.
I agree that schools are mostly running behind in knowing what to do. But I think society is dat behind on establishing our ethics on this. It's unhealthy to just start integrating it into school and saying to students, you can use it to check your essays or something. We have to consider what it does to the development of critical thinking skills. Young people still need to train those parts of their brain, and every use of gen AI is a trip to the mental gym in which students are lifting without any weights.

I work on education related projects in the EU, and everyone is struggling with this topic. It’s definitely a global issue.
