Fascinating stuff. I thought the puzzle of the tipping point with gay marriage. I remember when discussing it with my husband and back in the day, and him having an ambivalent take that sounded a lot like President Obama's at the time. He was not against it personally, per se, he would say, but he felt society was not ready for it. But once it suddenly became legal, he was on board 100%. I feel like he knew in his heart that it was right, but he needed to feel most everyone else was on board before he let himself think so to. I wonder if a lot of people were in that boat and just needed enough other people around them that express support to create that tipping point. The stuff about the school kids was also fascinating.
