So happy to see this article by Dr. Knurick! I follow her in Instagram and learn a lot from her insights. Great article!

They were promised MAHA, but they got muahaha (evil, mustache-twirling laughter). Predictable!

Are Democrats doing anything to pick up these easy votes? Say: “We have always been the party of public health, and here’s how a vote for us is a vote against the preventable diseases RFK pretends to be concerned about when he focuses on unrelated and debunked scapegoats.” And maybe say: “Yes, we will now actually put priority on policy behind our existing distrust of ultraprocessed foods and pesticides that are now being demanded across the political divide.”

I kinda wanna take the Democratic party platform into our own hands, write it all out without the influence of lobbyists and ultra-rich donors, and directly ask all the candidates in the midterms to take a stand on which policies they would pledge to prioritize if elected, including the environmental and public health low-hanging fruit outlined here. If Democrats are primed to pick up a few seats from the usual pendulum swing, let’s force them into a platform that could be more like a landslide wipeout in November.
