Important news and legal updates -- join me and my guests to get the inside info.
Happy Friday! I am so grateful to the thousands of you who have joined my Substack lives recently — my goal is to keep you informed and grounded.
We’ll be covering a lot of ground, including several recent court decisions: SCOTUS’s ruling on mass firings of government employees and a controversial immigration law in Florida. A federal judge issued a nationwide block to Trump’s executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship. But didn’t the Supreme Court just say that wasn’t allowed? I’ll talk to law professor, and good friend of The Preamble, Steve Vladeck about that.
Plus, I often tell all of you to go to Ad Fontes Media whenever you ask me where to find thoughtful evaluations of a news organization’s accuracy and political leanings. Now, the Trump administration is investigating Ad Fontes and other media watchdog groups, suggesting their work has led to conservative-leaning platforms losing ad revenue. What’s really behind this investigation? I’ll talk to Ad Fontes Media’s CEO, Vanessa Otero.
And, a former Justice Department lawyer turned whistleblower has turned over text messages, emails and phone records that he says proves a top DOJ official talked about defying a judge’s order to not send dozens of Venezuelan immigrants to El Salvador. I will talk to a top former DOJ official, Liz Oyer, about that.
Plus, I’ll tick through some of the other major news stories of the day.
