While I may not have had the chance to deliver the commencement speech at Utah Valley University this week like I’d planned, I still want to congratulate the Class of 2026 at UVU and all around the country.
LOVE!!! Such powerful words, Sharon. I teach at a small homeschool group and I’m going to read this for our graduates next week. Your words will still be echoed throughout this country.
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing it. As a senior adult, it gives me hope and encouragement. I believe that more people will see this, and reading it may have a bigger influence than having the opportunity to deliver it. May we all do the next needed thing.
Sharon, this brought tears to my eyes! This is so beautifully stated. Thank you for being a light in our world and sharing the importance of durable hope🩵💜💕
Durable Hope gives meaning to what we are all holding onto right now and makes it seem not as fragile but instead more rugged and sustainable. Thank you for sharing your wonderful speech ❤️
Oh my gosh Sharon. This is PERFECT! I’m sitting here just a bawlin! I’m remembering all the graduation’s I’ve attended with my kids and grandkids. Yes, all those speeches were inspiring, but this one is so real, so truthful, not glossing over the hard things going on in our world today. But more importantly, not using any of the negative, even derogatory rhetoric that is so commonly used lately. This inspires determination and commitment, with no expectation of acknowledgment, to the common good!! It is modeling, exactly what you are saying. I’m already planning out my wall plaque with some of the choice phrases you stated so poetically. THANK YOU Sharon, for putting this out here for ALL to read and share.
I love this quote “Do not let anyone make you feel foolish for loving a world that is still worth saving.” 😍😍😍 Thank you for sharing this - great speech!!!
These words are exactly what people need to hear at this time. Thank you for finishing this speech and sharing it with us.

I’m so glad you still shared this with the world. These are words we all need to hear.
That's a beautiful commencement address, and I'm sad for the students who don't get to hear you say it but grateful you've shared it here.
Durable hope. Thanks for sharing this. OX
I wish they could have heard this in person. Beautifully said
