King is very quotable, but he is so much more powerful when you read his writings and speeches in full. He believed fundamentally that this country could and should be better than what we are. His life and his work challenge us to keep pushing America to live up to our ideals.

Yes. And also, may we carry out his exhortations instead of merely quoting them. ❤️

Like deciding who we are going to vote for this year to turn this Trump fiasco around . We need to start funding the candidates across the nation to take over our Congress and find and support the candidate who will win against J.D. Vance in 2028. Times a wasten ,so, let's get these people lined up now and start telling those in our own spheres of influence who are running and to vote for them in November.

thank you. You've lifted my heart reminding of these words, our purpose as citizens and human beings, and our nation's promise.

Dark days are here. The paralyzing challenge often is overcoming our desire for comfort and peace more than seeking the discomfort of standing up to power and corruption.

The past week Buddhist monks made their way through the Carolinas, including a stop in a neighboring city. I have had mixed feelings about going to see them. On the one hand I appreciate their reminder that we choose peace. On the other news reports flood my social media about injustices around the country at the hands of law enforcement and those in power.

The sad truth is that there will be no peace without a fight, without discomfort, without inconvenience. There will be no peace until we, the people, decide to stand together for each other rather than look away in a false sense of security. We can’t be okay if our neighbor isn’t okay. It’s a poor assumption to make that so long as I do what corrupt leaders ask me to do, I will not face any harm because the darkness settling all around is the unsettling smoke that is choking out the freedoms so many paid the price with their life.

Sobbing as I read. And looking in this darkness for the stars. You, Sharon, are certainly a light bearer. I will look hard for my next right steps. And I will boldly take them.

Just the words we need this year - thank you for sharing this particular speech, Sharon, and thank you for your words & courage all these decades later, Mr. King. I know I needed the reminder and encouragement this morning. May we all act and be moved as he has called us to. ❤️

Thank you for sharing this. What profound and poignant words that we must remember and take with us NOW. There is so much darkness, but we must march for the light.

Nicely said, Sharon, and , yes, it is time that we be what was said on paper by our Founding Fathers.

Such a powerful speech to read, and it's even more moving when you listen to the audio.

I needed to read this today and have a good cry as I sit here in South Minneapolis. I will keep going to fight for our collective better future.
