Join our weekly community and conversation thread now
Hi Friends,
It’s been a busy week in the news, but one that showed the real impact we can have when we take action together. In The Preamble’s first community open thread, you all really showed up and connected with one another, and it was lovely to see. So, we’re back this week with more space for everyone to chat, connect, and share what’s on your minds.
Jump into the comments to talk about what’s new in your corner of the universe, any actions you took this week to get involved in your community or make the world a little bit better, or anything you’d like.
This community is for paid subscribers, and we’d love to have you join us! The goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, which means speaking to and treating each other with respect in the comments.
Thanks for being part of our community!

I wanted to help a small Hispanic church located next to the church I attend. The Pastor said lots of his congregants were afraid to go anywhere and Visa gift cards would help them pay expenses and get food delivered. I put out an ask to a few friends who shared with their friends. Within 24 hours I had raised $1000. I will be delivering 20 $50 gift card to the pastor on Sunday. I am so proud of the people of Minnesota. I cried tears of joy several times yesterday as the money came in. People helping those they don’t know is beautiful.
This past week, at age 62, was the first time I called my NC state senators. And I called multiple days. When I saw that NC Senator Budd was one of the eight republicans who joined the democrats in voting NO, I thought back to an action Sharon McMahon always recommends…I called his office back to say “Thank you for hearing us.”
