"With the war in Iran dominating every headline, it would be easy to miss what is happening in America's own backyard. For most of the post–Cold War era, Washington barely glanced south. It had other priorities — the Middle East, China, NATO's eastern flank. Latin America could wait. What this weekend made clear is that the waiting is over. The Trump administration is not just reclaiming the hemisphere diplomatically. It is militarizing it — with missile strikes, military coalitions, and a doctrine that treats the neighborhood less as an alliance to be cultivated and more as a security theater to be controlled. We will be back on Iran tomorrow! "
